Brett G. Tollman is a successful businessman specializing in the travel industry. He was born into a family of hoteliers and knows the international specialty tourism scene inside out.
Background Brett Tollman was born in South Africa and received a BSc in Hotel Management from Cornell University. Since that time, he has held executive management positions in several international hotel and travel companies. Current Business In his newest role, Brett Tollman is The Travel Corporation's (TTC) Chief Executive Officer and President. He has been with the company since 1997 and as managing director was in charge of several of TTC's businesses. As CEO and President, he will oversee TTC's international offices. In his hands-on leadership approach, he strengthens employee trust and morale. He focuses on creating special travel experiences for the company's clientele and in staying closely connected to many of the major players in the global travel agency industry. He not only arranges unique travel packages, he goes one step further by actually nurturing those destinations that he promotes. He organized a conference attended by 350 international travel professionals in Cape Town, South Africa so they could get a hands-on feel for the country and its population. Along with touring and learning, the delegates took time to build Wendy Houses, which are small houses with four walls, and gave them to the local regional councils. They also played host to some 600 local school children at a regional theme park. TTC provides destination management, youth travel services, escorted touring, transportation options and even river cruises to a specialty market. The company is made up of many independent hotels and travel companies that serve a niche clientele. Through such firms as Trafalgar Tours, Insight Vacations, Contiki Holidays, Red Carnations Hotels, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, Creative Holidays, AAT Kings, African Travel, Lion World and New Horizon Holidays, TTC provides upscale travel packages. Previously, Brett Tollman has not only worked for Red Carnation Hotels, but he is also its CEO. Red Carnation Hotels is a collection of 13 superb boutique hotels spread throughout Europe, Southern Africa and the US. Brett Tollman also has previous experience with companies providing travel services as managing director for the three prior years. His responsibilities included managing tour schedules for incoming travelers and overseeing tour operator services. Business History Before Brett G. Tollman joined TTC, he was the president and COO of a hotel group in the US that was privately owned. The company, T-H Hotels, owned 150 three star hotels and employed more than 4,000 staff. Brett Tollman managed all operations, including marketing and maintenance. Professional Interests Brett Tollman is a long standing member of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and serves as its vice chairman of membership. The council is a forum touching on every issue related to tourism and travel. Through the Young President's Organization (YPO), Brett Tollman takes a part in helping to develop great leaders by contributing ideas and learning opportunities. During meetings, the members focus on how they can help each other to develop and excel in their fields. He has been a member of the Mayfair chapter and now is an international member. Personal Life Brett Tollman takes a keen interest in supporting environmental awareness, sustainable tourism and is a founding board member of The Travel Corporation's Conservation Foundation. The non-profit organization supports sustainable tourism and aims to support and protect ecologically fragile sites around the world. Brett G. Tollman recently moved to the US to fulfill his new position with TTC. He lives in Los Angeles home with his wife and three children. |
